Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mid-Level Systems Engineering Manager for an exciting opportunity to manage employees supporting multiple U.S. Space Force programs. This position will provide engineering leadership to support the technical execution of the Space Superiority - Red LAN program in Colorado Springs, CO. The Red LAN program supports the United States Space Force, Space Surveillance Network providing critical Space Domain Awareness (SDA) data to our nations war fighters.
In this pivotal role as Systems Engineering Manager, you will lead a high-performing team that is engaged in a key USG space program. By leveraging your expertise and innovative thinking, you will guide your team in identifying inefficiencies, developing robust solutions, and implementing process improvements that enhance productivity and quality ensuring customers’ needs are met. In this position you will be responsible for; team building, personal development, program technical execution, systems engineering, ground system operations & sustainment, product development, and more. This is a classified Space Force mission program, critical to our national defense.
This position will report directly to the Red LAN senior Engineering Manager and is part of a high-performing team that is engaged in key United States Government proprietary space programs working in the area of Space Superiority. Red LAN is a US Space Force operational asset that is operated at Schriever SFB (SSFB), located 15 miles from the Boeing program depot. The Boeing depot provides operational and sustainment support to the program as well as office space for the Boeing Team. This position requires routine local travel to the operational location at SSFB to interface with our Space Force customers and the Boeing team members directly supporting day to day technical execution.
Position Responsibilities:
Serves as Deputy Engineering Manager for the Red LAN program supporting the technical execution of Red LAN program requirements
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
Performs management duties supporting an engineering/technical team executing on a series of programs in the area of Space Superiority
Develops and presents program status reports
Manages priorities and improves processes in a small team environment.
Fills program positions (hires) and assigns program personnel duties & responsibilities
Co-Chair; Internal Readiness Review Board (IRRB), Design Reviews, Program Reviews, etc.
Supports 24/7 technical response for anomaly resolution.
Assure products and processes meet safety and quality expectations
Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures
Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
Manages, develops and motivates employees
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
Travel up to 10% to other sites as necessary
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance with a Tier 5 Investigation (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) that has been successfully completed by the federal government within the last 5 years or in a Continuous Evaluation/Continuous Vetting program for the T5. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics
5 years or more of experience with systems engineering or project management
5 years or more of experience with Department of War Programs
3 years or more of experience with ground systems engineering and sustainment
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Knowledge of Boeing's organizational processes, program plans, and policies
Demonstrated ability in budget management and business process improvement
Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $170,000 - $230,000
